Purpose of award: To assist student journalists.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be college students interested in pursuing journalism careers and paid summer internships. The three programs have their own requirements. Applicants to the Newspaper Copy Editing Program and the Sports Copy Editing Program must be juniors, seniors or graduate students and must take copy editing exams and seminars. Candidates must submit the application form, a resume, a list of courses and grades and a 500-word essay. Applicants for the Business Reporting Internship Program must be minority college sophomores and juniors who are African American, Hispanic, Asian American/Pacific Islander or American Indian/Alaskan Native. Candidates should submit application forms, resumes, three to five recent clips, a list of courses and grades and 500-word essays. They must also take the business reporting tests.
