This program is overseen by the Connecticut Department of Higher Education, and is designed to help Connecticut residents, who are also US citizens, who are in financial need. Monies awarded may be used at either a 2-year or 4-year college, but use is limited to state public colleges or universities. This award is based on need and is designed to fill the gap between the actual cost of school and the amount the student and parents can pay. In most cases it does not have to be repaid.
Application requires you to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can obtain the forms on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. There is no charge for filing an application. Funds may be awarded multiple times, however, the form must be filled out annually, after January 1st, in the year the funds are needed. Visit www.ctdhe.org for more information.
