Description
This scholarship is through the Fraser Institute, which is a Canadian-based public policy research center.  This opportunity is an essay scholarship and is sponsored by the Lotte and John Hecht Memorial Foundation.  As you can imagine, the Fraser Institute 2012 Student Essay Scholarship asks students to write an essay that deals with public policy.  In addition to scholarship awards of up to $1,000, winning students may also be published in Fraser Institute journals.  Pretty cool accomplishment if you are in high school.

This year’s essay topic is “Are the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer?”  The Fraser Institute further clarifies the prompt on their website.  Students are asked to consider “historical perspective, empirical evidence, and economic analysis” when crafting their essays.  Essays should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words and can be submitted in either French or English.  Check out the scholarship website for specifics regarding

Eligibility
